Move-In Guide: Everything You Need to Know 

Moving into your new home at Dwell Student Living is an exciting step in your uni journey!

We’ve put together this step-by-step guide to make the process smooth for both Dwell Village Melbourne City (DVMC) and Dwell East End Adelaide (DEEA) residents. Here’s everything you need to know for a stress-free move-in.

1.Check-In Process 

What’s the check-in procedure? 

Our team will help you check in by collecting your documents, assigning your room, and giving you your secure swipe card. You’ll be shown to your room afterward.

Do I need to book a check-in time? 

No booking is needed. We offer 24-hour check-in for single-occupancy rooms. However, please note that late-night check-ins aren’t allowed for dual-occupancy rooms.

 What documents do I need to bring? 

  • For international students: Passport, CoE (Confirmation of Enrolment) 
  • For domestic students: Government-issued ID (e.g., Driver's License, Student ID) 

2.Wi-Fi Setup 

Wi-Fi instructions will be provided at check-in. Our staff will walk you through how to get connected and provide login credentials on the spot.

3.What’s Provided in Your Room & Kitchen 

Here’s what’s included in your room:

  • Kitchen: Glass cooktop, rangehood, refrigerator, microwave (with grill), dishwasher, and kettle.
  • Furniture: Study table, chair, bed frame, and mattress.
  • Extras: Air conditioning, kitchen and bathroom bins.

Can I purchase bedding or kitchenware on-site? 

We’re preparing new bedding and kitchen packs.

4.Maintenance Requests 

All maintenance requests can be submitted through the Dwell Student Portal, the same platform you used for your booking. If you notice any issues during check-in, our staff will be happy to assist you with submitting a request. We aim to resolve all requests within 24 to 48 hours, prioritizing urgent issues.

5.Room Guidelines 

Please remember: 

  • No sticking or hanging items on walls.
  • Electrical items must not exceed 1,200 volts, as this may trip the safety switch.
  • For safety reasons, charging e-scooters or bikes in your room is not permitted.

6.Security 

We ensure your safety with:

  • 24/7 CCTV monitoring
  • Secure keycard access for all buildings
  • Evening Manager available from 9 PM to 5 AM, with Resident Ambassadors on call 24/7 at 0418 943 020 for emergencies

7.Postage & Deliveries 

Our team will collect your parcels, sign for them, and send you an email notification for collection after 5 PM. For food deliveries, please meet the driver at the front door, as we can’t accept food at reception.

8.Housekeeping 

Room cleaning services are available upon request. Fees depend on the room’s condition after inspection. Contact reception to arrange a cleaning.

What’s the check-in procedure? 

When you arrive, our team will help with your check-in by verifying your details, assigning your room, and giving you your secure swipe card. Check-in starts at 2 PM, and you'll be shown to your room shortly after.

Do I need to book a check-in time? 

No need to book a time! Just let us know your estimated arrival. If you’re arriving after hours, our Residential Assistants (RAs) or night manager will handle your check-in.

3.What’s Provided in Your Room & Kitchen 

We’ve designed our rooms for comfort and convenience. Depending on the room type, here’s what you can expect:

  • 1 Bedroom Deluxe, Premium, Premium Plus, and 4/5 Bedroom Deluxe: Equipped with heating, fridge, cooktop, rangehood, microwave, oven, and a ceiling fan.
  • 2 Bedroom, 3 Bedroom, and 5 Bedroom Apartments: Equipped with heating, fridge, cooktop, rangehood, and microwave. A pedestal fan is available upon request from reception.

We’re always improving your living experience, so rest assured, all our rooms meet our high standards.

Can I purchase bedding or kitchenware on-site? 

Yes! If you’re too busy (or lazy 😜) to shop around, we’ve got you covered. Bedding and kitchen packs are available for purchase, but availability and prices may change, so contact us beforehand, and we’ll confirm if anything has changed.

  • Bedding Packs: $120 (Includes fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillow, pillowcase, quilt, quilt cover, bath towel, hand towel, face towel & bath mat)
  • Kitchen Packs: $100 (Includes sauce pan, frypan, utensils, dinnerware, and more)
